Spicy and Tangy Marinated Mushrooms

Updated: Mar 3, 2021

These little marinated knobs of fungi are delicious! They're a wee bit spicy and tangy! Yum! Of course you can adjust the amount of spice to your liking! I like to use small white mushrooms (e.g. button mushrooms) and cremini mushrooms for slightly different textures and flavour.

Cremini mushrooms are essentially white mushrooms, aged longer. This aging gives the mushrooms a firmer texture and darker colour.

Flavour Profile

  • White Mushrooms have a "woodsy" flavour that intensifies during cooking

  • Cremini Mushrooms have more of a meaty/earthly flavour

Why would you pickle mushrooms anyway? Simple! They taste delicious. Pickling gives the mushrooms an acidic tangy taste which compliments the mushroom flavour.

Serve as an appetizer, snack, side dish or grab one or two whenever you want. You know you will! They would be a nice compliment to a rich meat like our Grilled Rack of Lamb with Board Sauce or Bistecca Alla Florentina!

Cook Well - Eat Well! Cheers Friends!
